Just one more sleep before the new Tool album Fear Inoculum is finally available, after 13 long years with no new music. I haven't been this excited about a new album release in years! Lateralus is my favourite album, and the first track kinda gives me a similar feeling to a lot of that album, so I am very keen to hear the rest. I...

Back again, it's been a while! Life has been busy, working on creative pursuits as always!

I'm a little disillusioned with Facebook and social media in general, there's so much negative noise and it seems at times to showcase the worst of humanity. So instead I thought I'd come back to SG, since everyone I've spoken to here over the years has been nothing but...

I'm writing a bunch of new songs right now, so I'm making The Spiral Sequence's first album available as a free download - if you're into Tool, Iron Maiden, Paradise Lost, Killing Joke and Metallica check it out, you might be into it, and hey, it's free, so why not give it a listen?

Here's the page link for the free download:

The Spiral Sequence...

I finally found time in between freelance jobs to create a new website for my art, design and image retouching. If you need any kind of Photoshop work, digital illustration, retouching or graphic design for web or print check it out. I've been working in this field for 20 years now and still enjoy it, which is cool! There are heaps of sample images and...

I just started a new Instagram account to help promote and network for my Photoshop retouching and design work, at midnight_sun_art_and_design. I've rediscovered my love of illustration and working on images in general over the last couple of years and it's really inspiring seeing some of the work out there and getting some good responses to my own work as well! So if you...

Looking forward to checking out a couple of rock/metal gigs over the weekend, it's been far too long. I'm going to go and see a few local bands in a small pub, have a few drinks and reconnect with what it is like to be a local musician slogging it out on the pub circuit. Should be fun!

Freelance work keeps rolling in which is...

Damn I'm having one of those days where nothing is really happening musically - I try ideas and none of them stick, they sound ok, but not really interesting enough to make the cut. I've been trying to push on through and hoping it was just a slow start, but it's not working. Time to walk away for the rest of the day I guess...

Work on the debut album by The Spiral Sequence continues and is going well... I'm now up to song six of a planned ten songs for the album, which I am writing, recording all the instruments, singing and mixing myself.

Here are some lyrics to a song called Serpentine I just finished working on:

Snake eyes staring back at me
Hide forked tongue behind white...

anunnaki:
I was studding textile and art at University of New south Wales. I had so fun, and I met the best people in the world :-)
If you ever go to Sweden you should do that in our summer. There are very warm in the south, and it can still be snow in the north.

I would really like to go travelling around the world and meet interesting people, there are so many people out there on sites like this and other art and music sites I regularly visit, so many creative, alternative, interesting people. I really do get a bit bummed out by how many people I meet and interact with here in Melbourne who are just plain boring,...

Travelling is a great way to meet more people in a similar headspace (although the internet does that pretty well...) but it's also a fantastic way to assess where you fit into the broader scheme of the world. Keep on saving, it's well worth it smile

Yeah, half my friends are also settling down and popping out babies at the moment. That route isn't attractive to everyone at the same time, though I'm gradually beginning to see the appeal, without having to feel like it's making me more conservative.
kittykhat16:
Hey, I understand the reservations about having kids- I used to hate the idea with a passion, and I'm still in the phase where I want to get as much stuff done as I can regarding my career and travel (both combined if possible!) before I *settle down* in one spot for too long... though it's starting to get to the point where my body may gang up on me soon. The fact that the idea of kids isn't as abhorrent as it once was makes me think that it's probably to do with hormones, rather than a change in conscious priorities that way...

Depending on what you want to do with your music it might still be possible to have both, you just need an understanding and flexible partner smile

Well despite my general lack of festive spirit leading up to Christmas it was actually really enjoyable visiting my girlfriend's family interstate and spending four relaxing days just eating, drinking and generally lounging about in the sun in 30C plus heat. Perhaps next year I won't be such a grouch lol. I think it's the ultra-busy lead up to Christmas rather than Christmas itself that...
