Stupid people make me nuts!
Yesterday, I organized a demonstration at the Korean consulate re: the consumption of dogs and cats as food.
Overall, I was very pleased with the way the event turned out. At its zenith, we had about a dozen people. GREAT for the middle of the day on Tuesday.
I ended up giving media interviews to:
AM New York (Newspaper)
Metro (Newspaper)
NY Radio Korea
WADO Radio
KTV (Korean Television)
Korean Daily (Newspaper)
NY Post
Made it a point to emphasize that "This isn't about geography, it's about cruelty..." and reminded them of work we've dojne against bullfights, circuses and foie gras.
Great coverage -- except for maybe the moron at the (right wing daily paper) the NY Post who had the gall to ask if I was at all worried about eating at Chinese Restaurants! I (gently) reminded him that Korea and China are different nation states, then stressed we are more concerned about what is happening to dogs and cats in Korea, which was the point of the event. He didn't seem to get it.
*shudders*
I then quipped it isn't really an issue b/c since learning about what happens to animals raised as food I've made it a point to order Buddha's Delight (which is always vegetarian) while showing him the photos in our brochure.
Even he got the point then. We'll see how it comes out.
Dumb@ss... Sometimes I am amazed at just how stupid people can be.

And thanks for the email; it made me smile.

I am seldom amazed any more by shows of stupidity. It just happens SO damn regularly, ya know?
