I read the play in Play Analysis, when I was a drama student a few years ago. It made for some pretty interesting class discussions. I think it would be really awesome to see it on stage. As far as the tv version goes, I saw it a few months ago on tv, and I was happy with how they presented it. I kinda liked the idea that the actors played more than one role because in a way that made it more theatrical.

Maybe the link could be something about shocking the reader out of their comfort zone/denial. Swift's essay, while not to be taken literally, serves to force the reader to confront their own socio-economic prejudices.
I doubt many of us have come up with his solution to overpopulation, or the cycle of poverty, but HAVE thought for at least a split second about the problem and some non-PC, possible grisly solution to it. Some might even say that the current treatment of the world's poor is akin to eating their babies.
Mitford's is meant to make people face the tangible reality of death- another uncomfortable subject preferably swept under the rug. Truth be told, both essays serve to confront the reader with the reality of human suffering and therefore mortality.

Hmm...for some reason the funeral paper reminded me of a study I read about OB/GYN visits, and how they are strictly socialized so that we can pretend that what's going on is completely medical and never sexual. It's similar because we seem to avoid knowing what exactly happens after death because we don't want to think about the finality of it.
