I talked to her for the first time online,
then went to sleep and talked to her for the first time in a dream.
It's unlike me to open up to a stranger,
but talking to her it felt natural.
I felt no pretense, no reason to lie.
For the first time I began a conversation without first fortifying my defenses,
and was happy with the results.
A true conversation, without the back and forth volly of feeling each other out.
Just honest from the get go, if I say something wrong, so be it.
And I got the same thing in return.
And boy did it feel good.
It is funny, the impersonal world of the internet allows us to form personal relationships faster than ever before.
What used to take years takes hours,
a true sign of how much our fear and lack of trust holds us back.
How much farther could our society come in this lifetime if we were as open in our physical world relationships as we are in cyberspace?
Can we really only be honest and trusting when we have something to hide behind?
just had to put that out there.....

lovely. thank you for sharing that. here's to more openness all around!

most people would be scared off if we displayed the openness in person that we do in cyberspace. Honesty and trust are rare commodities, it's easier to exhibit them when you have something to hide behind; it prevents you from getting hurt.
