I was talking to this ex-hooker one day and she said to me "if we're talking we're fucking" I think this is how life can feel sometimes...like human connection can be a bit overwhelming...

this is why sideways glances on the bus can turn my stomach and passing idle people chatting into cell phones can be too much. Like I'm sharing this space with a...

Yeah, i'd rather you not, thanks.
Because it's not honest, and because it's not constructive and because it's human and sometimes, depending on the culture/day in age, "human" can be a dirty word.
I'd much rather be allowed to appraise a stranger, and when they turn around, meet their eyes, and smile.
Mmmm... honesty.
miao!!

i live in san diego now, but i was born&raised in hawaii.
diff btwn people in san diego & hawaii:

alot of people in san diego (are stuck on themselves), they never smile @ you if you accidentally make eye contact with them, unless you smile @ them first ( but there's still a 50% chance theyll sneer.) & i know everyone gets in a bad moods regularly, but ive never lived anywhere else where peoples default reaction to eye contact is so unanimously an uncongenial leer.

now to contrast....
when i lived in hawaii, there's a insanely large population of oriental people, who are generally polite. & then there are all these gargantuan samoans who i had the pleasure of going to 12 years of public school with, who make bloody messes in the bathrooms during lunch.
i think i have been thourally conditioned to know how to NOT get my head smashed against a sink, for throwing a dirty look.

Graduation was long and dull and hierarchal, I felt like such a pompous geek in all my honor cords and other medalions that only point out obsessive behavior not true achievement.
Our speaker was James depriest
http://www.jamesdepreist.com/biography.htm
he was actually very moving, a gifted writer and eloquent/passionate speaker. His subject was very political considering the pathetic state of affairs in America currently. He spoke about...

I would like to point out that Slate was totally calm and collected for her first lap dance although she may not claim so. She did a very good job so this means next time you must go ask the stripper yourself..Oooooooooh! Call me tonight.
octagon:
hehe.. I can't listen to the K&D sessions without thinking about the many times I had sex to it.

Tonight is Le Tigre at the Roseland, and tomorrow I have to be at the rose quarter at 8:45am for graduation, maybe I can take a nap during the ceremony, I mean the damn thing is 4 hours long....

Congrats on graduation and enjoy the stripperathon!

That rocks that you're going to Costa Rica! I know what you mean about relying on travel to help you sort stuff out; my theory is that travel can help you find yourself b/c it highlights all the stuff that CAN'T be changed just by changing location. Anyway, I hope you manage to track down a couple of internet cafes while you're there and say hi!

PS: I just posted under your last entry, too, so make sure you flip back and check it outsmile
joubee:
bye bye mammacita...........and I'm sure I"ll see you..I have three days before I leave again. its 1:30 and I can't sleep!!!!!!!!

Tonight I went to this sweet little wine bar in the yuppie-fied part of PDX.
I am not a wine drinker at all, and begged for a dusty Moretti they had shoved in the back for us uncouth folk....
my compatriots and I got in that big is sex work opression or liberation battle of the minds, and it occured to me just how ridiculous...

My BF and I have fairly frequent discussions about sex worker oppression, too. He's of the opinion that all women involved in sex-work are extremely exploited (and yet he manages to enjoy porn just the same... whatever!), while I prefer to believe that at least SOME sex workers enjoy what they do and get involved in the industry by choice. I like your point about sex workers being excluded from dialogue that concerns them. I came across some columns written by a prostitute defending prostitution a while ago; I can't remember alot of details, but it was very interesting reading.

Oh, speaking of America and sex; do you read Dan Savage's column? It's one of my favessmile

I almost done with school and I am ready to move on with my life...I am ready to get a little crazy...
_risforrad:
I had a good food day yesterday, toosmile you're lucky that you have a garden; I live in an apartment building, but at least there's a grocery store down the street!

Are you in classes right now or do you start again in September?

My boyfriend has a tendency to talk in his sleep, in fact you can have whole conversaitons with him in the middle of the night that he will never remember. Its like a quirky truth serum.

So last night I crawled into bed and asked him "who do you love" to which he replied confidently "Naomi"
so I asked him "Why do you love Naomi"...

crazy in love! awwsmile

I had a friend in junior high who talked in her sleep, too. She was a real hit at slumber parties; you could even suggest events and listen to her dreams play out accordingly. One time we had her dreaming about being stranded in the desert, and when we woke her up later she ran to the kitchen and drank like 2L of water... Ok, that was a tame example.... the one where we had her dream about seducing our science teacher was more fun; she totally freaked out, it was so mean...

tonight I am going to this women's studies senior celebration with free wine and food...
two weeks from graduation is the best because everyone wants to celebrate you..
I really want to go to Union Jacks tonight but I think I should cut myself off...everytime I go there I leave penny-less...and I need to save my money for the tropics.

So last night was lazer tag madness, which of course I was late for since the boy needed to eat his sausage-carcasses before the killings began....how appropriate.

I didn't do so bad though I kept forgetting about the no running rule..oops. I found though that it was easy to dodge and hide- sometimes it comes in handy to be five foot nothing.
I should have...
