When I started a hosting account at dreamhost I got a free domain name. What I would do with a 13th domain name, I had no idea.
Former MTV VJ Adam Curry came up with this idea for a program which automatically downloads files in RSS 2.0 enclosures. You subscribe to a RSS feed, and the program downloads the content (audio in this case) to your computer or Mp3 player. He dubbed it podcasting. More simply put, you get a program which lets you "subscribe" to internet radio broadcasts.
So, instead of maintaining my shoutcast feed (which was @ skord.org), I'll be moving to a podcast starting tonight. It's a hell of a lot easier on the resources, and lets me have more time for... well, just more time. No more play lists, bandwidth hunting, system maintenance (3 servers), and I can put about $20k of audio equipment to rest.
