I was just in a bit of a funk, feeling rather lonely and very nostalgic for my college days. I'm also having some Chicago cravings, but I don't think I can swing a trip home until winter break, so feh.

But anyway, in non-complainy news, Friday was my birthday, and I went to the SGJapan meetup in Osaka. It took about 4 hours and 3 trains, but it was awesome. zobop met me at the train station, and we joined Fenchurch, madneil, and Max16Characters at an Irish Pub-sorta predominantly Gaijin bar. Thanks to my awesome timing (ok, the train's awesome timing which got me there at 10pm), the cover band was just starting to play, so we could hardly hear each other to talk. Instead, I drank and danced and drank and got some excellent birthday swag and drank. Oh boy did I drink. I drank too much too fast, so that by the time we got to karaoke my body was already rejecting all that alcohol.

After two sessions of praying to the porcelain goddess (or, um, as close as I could get... not my fault all the stalls were occupied... that's what sinks are for anyway, right?), I felt a hell of a lot better. I still did a great impression of a stereotypical drunk chick though. I had puke on my clothes, danced on a surface which I subsequently fell off of, and got the hiccups. I also attempted to sing karaoke even though by this point my voice was pretty much shot. Ever hear Patty Bouvier try to rock "Take On Me"? Well, there are 4 more people in this world who have now.

I think it was about 4am when we finally wrapped things up. All I really know is that by 6am I was stumbling into the lobby of the New Hankyu Hotel asking for a room, and I was so tired and out of it that I couldn't even write the kanji for my address and kept having to scratch it out for hiragana. Had I been more coherent, I would have asked for the room until Sunday. Instead, I had to check out at noon, and I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself, so I decided to come home. I was really torn about the decision, but it pretty much came down to these factors: my only pair of jeans smelled funky, I couldn't wear my sweatshirt at all and it was cold and rainy, and my clean socks and underwear had inadvertantly gotten soaked when I left my bag out in the rain (we were covered but I guess my bag wasn't). So I opted to go home. Then I was totally kicking myself about it and got really depressed when I finally got home, and thought I really should have stayed in Osaka. And that sucked, but the rest of my weekend was totally awesome, so there
