Comp is working- turned out I bought some dodgy RAM somewhere along the line. For the moment, i've spent about 4 hours installing software, downloading utilities, patches and updates, and copying photos. And i'm STILL not done.
New system runs thusly: Same old Ath 3k+ 64 (venice, iirc) with a Freezer Pro heatsink which is fucking HUGE, same old Geil 1gb DDR500, NEW C:/ drive is a WD Raptor 36Gb for system, games etc., D:/ is my 120Gb IDE drive now for storage (fed by my new internal CF card reader), and E:/ is a 40Gb IDE for swapfiles, scratch disk etc. Oh, and my fancy new X1800XT with aftermarket cooler. All in a swanky new Antec P180 case.
