That's cool. I didn't need to know--that was entirely up to you whether to say or not--but I'm glad that you did tell me.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting anyone from here--and I've only been here for a couple of months. I've also been broke for a while (the joys of working for a startup ) which has limited what I otherwise would have done about getting out to some Seattle events.

However, I've been members of a number of other online fora where I have established significant friendships and connections. I also have a significant real-life.

Yes, I think there are, as you say, a bunch of lonely souls for whom this is their only window on a social life. There are also plenty of people in the outside world who go through life as zombies. In both places one must winnow the good from the bad.

I'll be sorry to see you depart because you seem to be an interesting person. And, to be honest, I would have liked to have gotten to know you better and perhaps meet. But if this is one of those things you must winnow away from your life, that is certainly your choice.

Every person we meet, in any forum, online or face to face, starts as a total stranger. It is not until both people put forth an effort to learn about the other that something closer can occur.

What I enjoy about this site is that, while it's a porn site, it's both tasteful, and it has a strong aspect of community to it.
