so my week keeps getting weirder... at least musically.
Currently on the stereo:
Velvet Cacoon - How the Last Day Came and Stayed Then Faded Into Simulated Rain
Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles, A Promis
Of the Wand and the Moon - Lucifer, Midnight Will
Dies Natalis - The Bright and Pure, Vom Gedanken und Der Erinnerung
Bjork - Debut
Agalloch - the Mantle
Spiritual Front - Nihilist Cocktails for Calypso Inferno, Songs for the Will, No Kisses on the Mouth, Nihilist
so in all a weird mix of somewhat lite, dark music.
but the music has been making me think about spring and summer, especially Bjork's 'Big Time Sensuality', the overtly sexual lyrics of Spiritual Front's songs, the pagan joy in the music of Agalloch, Of the Wand and the Moon, and Dies Natalis, the weird ripping feelings of happiness, depression, torment, love and the other conflicting emotions Xiu Xiu puts you through, and the sheer hallucitory landscape crafted by Velvet Cacoon. but back to spring and summer...
the laziness
the rampant horniness
the stirring of the blood, that is far different than winter's stirring
taking walks through the sun kissed woods, or going on nights when the moon is a beacon watching over you and showing you the way home.
dancing
barbeques
festivities and gatherings in general
sitting outside strumming the old acoustic, or going to the woods and recording your music and that of nature's mixing with each other. nothing is better than a simple folk song accompanied by crickets, wind and leaves.
it is never quiet out there, and if it is, the quiet doesn't have a manufactured feel about it.
