You know, I really enjoy cooking. When there are new recipes, I love to try them, change up old ones, improvise, use organic ingredients whenever possible (and affordable) and I can spend a great deal of time just to prepare the different ingredients just so the meal looks nice.

But sometimes, nothing can beat old pizza from the day before with a cold beer.

Good luck on the course.  That pizza looks really good.

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to it. All I know about photography is self-taught, so it might be a good thing to get a new perspective from someone who actually knows how to do it!   And the pizza was delicious! :D Although a real calorie-bomb, but I just can't say no to a cheesy-crust... *drools*

One of my my most-adored artists, H.R. Giger, died yesterday at the age of 74. This saddens me more than I could possible express. I had the chance to visit two exhibitions, one of them just last year here in Linz, and they were journeys into different worlds and realities - and most of his work felt strangely... familiar to me. Some of them were...

Finally... getting some rest, hopefully having a good time and do something productive.

Something more than this here...

That was my dinner on Monday. Around 11pm. At the tram-station. While waiting for the train home. Which only passes by every 30 minutes at that time of the day. And I had to get up on 6am the next morning. Oh sweet lack of sleep...

Sorry to all the lovely people out there who keep on reading my entries, I know there isn't much going on here right now. Also, I'm kinda late with replies and everything... I'll try to make up for it as soon as possible, but my days right now only include getting up -> going to work -> get home -> slump into bed again, then...

There is a thunderstorm raging outside and it's raining like crazy. I wish I were at my old place, where I could just get out my clothes into the rain and feel my mind come to peace. But sitting at the window and just listening to the storm, devouring the noises of the city while all your insides vibrate to the roaring of the thunder...

I really hope you get the chance one day, @brickman. Although a nice walk during a rainy day can just be as good. There is a point, when you won't feel the wet and sticky clothes on you. You just have to ignore the confused looking people around you when they hide under roofs, umbrellas or newspapers. ;) One thing I want to try one day, is screaming all my insides out. Somewhere, where no one can hear me. Just letting it all out...     And big thanks for your compliment! It still feels weird for me writing in English and it always feels very clumsy to me.
brickman:
Your English is quite elegant, not clumsy at all.  You need a long walk in a quiet woods to let your scream out.  Really enjoy your posts.  Hope life is treating you well.

Sorry for my absence, but at work it's stock-taking-time. So, the last few days were all in preperation for the big one and from tomorrow to tuesday the horror will take place. That means I'm gonna be stressed out. A lot.

But you know what's helping? Wearing your favorite artsy-nerd-shirt!

jekyll:
Nice shirt!

Day two of my time with my family is almost over. Yesterday I arrived, fixed a few technical problems at my parants home and later had some coffee and delicious cake together with my mum & dad, my brother, his new girlfriend and their kids. My parents were babysitting for the night and shortly after one brother left, my other brother joined us for dinner....

Sounds like you had a good time despite a minor delay.  Glad you had a good couple of day.  Bet that cake was good.  really like your photos.
shinbaka:
Yes, it was delicious! Even if I use a lot recipes from my mom, it's never as good as hers. Glad you like the pictures! Photography definitely became one of very important hobbies. Even if a lot aren't any good, but you start seeing the world different. And it's a good motivation to get my lazy ass out of the house. XD

Off to Vienna where I'm going to visit my family. On todays schedule: fixing stuff at my parents house and later get drunk at my brothers place. Good times ahead!

Thank you @brickman, my brother! Yeah, the last two days were purest heart-balm. Even if not everything went smoothly, time I can spend with my family is something I treasure a lot.
brickman:
Me too.  Family if always forefront.  We spent a crazy afternoon yesterday with my mom, sister, her husband and two of her kids.  My mom is 73 is she is worse than my sisters kids.  Hope your family made you some of the dishes you grew up with and love.  Also hope you got a couple of beverages in.

Well, that would actually DO explain a lot...

LOL
shinbaka:
Yeah, @artillery, that was pretty much my first reaction too. Followed by an "Oh shit, that's SO true!" XD

Sometimes, when a day sucks, there is a good, homemade therapy at my disposal. Getting drunk while watching movies. Today it was Escape from New York, followed by Escape from L.A. and, as a nice little extra, the good old classic Robocop. I have to watch the new one soon, just to see how much they fucked it up. Or maybe it's a...

It is indeed, @brickman! Especially Escape from L.A. is awesome. Plissken is just badass! When it comes to remakes, The Thing also comes to mind. Another great remake! And... damn, that's so incredible sweet! I would love to have that kind of refuge, but to be honest, my somewhat complicated relationship is more than often one of the reasons why I'm down... Actually, that might be a good topic for a blog, when I have more time.
brickman:
Sorry to hear that as I know the strength of a strong partner.  I have been with my wife for almost 25 years, married for almost 23.,,.....I really like the Kurt Russell  version.  Actually anything with him.
