Day two of my time with my family is almost over. Yesterday I arrived, fixed a few technical problems at my parants home and later had some coffee and delicious cake together with my mum & dad, my brother, his new girlfriend and their kids. My parents were babysitting for the night and shortly after one brother left, my other brother joined us for dinner.
(There are many beautiful plants in my parents garden!)
(But also some nightmare-fuel, like these toolshacks right next to the house. It's dark, dirty, a bit rundown and when I was a little kid it gave me the creeps...)
He, his girlfriend and me had a great night, with lots of chatting and drinking. Around 4'o clock in the morning I finally went to bed.
Today I checked out my brothers garden. There are always new things to find, because he keeps buying and salvaging old cars, or just buys them beacause he simply loves them. So there are always nice motives to be found.
For lunchtime, there was a bigger family-dinner at a restaurant, which is always a bit exhausting. But the worst part has to be the "little" breakdown my brothers car had. We picked up my girlfriend from the train station (she joined us for the big-family-time), drove to the restaurant, parked there and after lunch, when we tried to drive back, the car wasn't really moving and you could hear metal bending and... "clonging". At first my brother thought, the handbreak wasn't released completely, so he checked it, tried again,... nothing. So he stepped on the gas a bit more, the car moved a bit (with even worse sounds) and suddenly we heared a hissing sound from the front, left tire. So he got out, checked everything but again - couldn't find anything. He asked his girlfriend to reverse a bit, so she tried and the hissing sound became one big woosh and the tire was completely deflated. So he used his jack to remove the tire and... fuck. The sping from the suspension broke and the end-piece ripped apart the whole tire. We have no idea how it happened, but damn... if that shit would have happened while driving, maybe even on the highway, this could have ended really bad.
Because of that, we spent the rest of the day rather calmly but hadn't much time left for doing anything else, because the whole towing-procedure was really time-consuming. Much waiting, following the two-truck back home to my brothers place, driving my girlfriend back to the train station and driving home to my parents. And just like that, the day was over.
(We used some planks to unload the car from the truck, because otherwise he wouldn't get down the ramp. The broken suspension made the front of the car grind on the floor because he was hanging so low. Like I said, not an easy task. The front licence plate still got ripped off.)
