"The movie screen is the true mirror, reflecting the flesh and blood of my dreams"
Jean Cocteau
This saturday i will have the pleasure of dining out with Alyk,Smuffy, and a few of their friends at the restaurant Dorwayin works at.
I have forewarned them, that i'm pretty boring company and exhibit weird nervous tics due to that whole "No smoking" in public places law... hopefully i'll manage not to make a fool out of myself and keep my drinking to a two drink minimum so i don't start slurring my words.
And then in a couple more weeks, i'll be meeting up with SurlyMike and Holagatito
to take in a few films showing at the boston film festival.
So yeah.... Shelly is brushing up on her shabby social skills and getting to meet some really cool people at the same time.
In other news, as many of you already know, The movie about Bettie Page is soon going to be released nation wide.
And my old coworker from manhattan is playing her...
Gretchen Mol has come a long way baby.
In all honesty, when i first found out she was cast in this role, i thought to myself ...."HUH? WHAT THE FUCK"?
Only for the fact that i don't think Gretchen looks anything like Bettie....at all.
But critics are saying she does a good job, so i will try and put that little evil voice aside when viewing the film. I only worked with her for a short period of time when i lived in N.y.c....and i cannot say a bad thing about her, as i recall her being extremely nice, and very cute as well
funny thing is.... her last week at my job ( she had already filmed two movies and was on her way to Ca. to shoot another) I actually said to her.. "Gretchen, one day you will probably be on the cover of Interview magazine... trust me on this"
she just laughed..
well, three weeks ago, i got my Interview magazine in the mail.
Guess who was on the cover?
"It's like..i have espn or something"
have a few film recommendations ....and if you have seen any of these, tell me what you thought.
1) Straw dogs
2) A woman under the influence
3) Blowup
4) The night of the hunter
5) Picnic at hanging rock
and a trivia question to boot...
Guess the movie based on the tagline for the film poster
"A tale of murder, lust, greed, revenge and seafood"
gotta motor...
xxoo Shelly

There are times I think that Regan and I would be total hermits if we could be. What I like best about the weekend is being home, doing stuff in and about our house, seeing no one and talking to nobody but her.
Sounds awful, and I don't mean that i don't like to go out and do things, cuz i do, but I love our quiet weekends alone at home.
It is truly wonderful to have a spouse that understands and appreciates that. Of course, if they didn't- would they be your spouse?
And yes, as usual, we are on the same page.
As for Brick, I was glad I saw it and it had some really excellent scenes in it, but overall I don't think it worked as well as it should have. I was worried that the bar had been set too high for me for "Southern California high school teen film noir" by Veronica Mars (my absolute favorite show on tv right now), but Mike was in agreement. Veronica Mars kicks ass though and if you had Netflix I would STRONGLY encourage you to rent it. I think you might enjoy Brick, but I also think you would feel the same way Mike and I did. It's one of those films that had the potential to be really awesome, but fell short.
How was dinner last night? Did you guys have fun? I hope you took photos that you will then share with the rest of us!
Hope you have a great day! Any special plans for Easter? My mom came up and Henna'ed my hair and then we planted some petunias and now I'm going to go watch Lost & Gilmore Girls that I taped during the week.
Talk to you later!
