Speaking of, please settle a disagreement for me. Said friend had asked me for help during the week last week for on their day off (and the end of my work week), but never messaged me to see if I was still available. So after work I went home.
So, some people say I should have messaged them to see if they still needed my help; I say, as they were the one asking for a favor, it was up to them to communicate better and message me. What say you all?

Personally, I would have checked. Some folks feel bad asking for help, or reminding people. But, you also don't have reason to feel guilty for not doing so, because they didn't keep up the communication either.

I'm with @skisby. Might have been better if you'd checked, but you weren't under an obligation to. There is no wrong here, just less than ideal. And we can't be ideal, especially not all the time. And when you're trying to help someone? You already put yourself out there to do it, so I'm not sure why it should also be on you to coordinate it and make it happen.
