Listening to a friend at work over the last few weeks talk about the ending of their relationship, and it's like I'm taken back in time; their partner has repeatedly failed them no matter how much they've talked and pleaded, like I failed my partners (I know, accept and have apologized for what I did wrong), and everything they're saying is uncomfortably familiar.
No, this doesn't mean I want them back, but it does mean that if I can see and feel bad for someone else going through what I put women I loved through, then it's much less likely that I would engage in that behavior again. Being uncomfortable in this case is definitely a sign of growth...
