Somebody at work was complaining, saying "These damn kids nowadays don't want to work anymore! Hell, I work 2 jobs over 60 hours a week! They just want to work a little bit and spend time with their friends and their hobbies. This generation is soft and weak."
So, I asked them, "Why do you work so much?"
They snorted. "Somebody has to pay rent and put food on the table; plus, got that new car payment, saving up for that vacation next year, kids always need something..."
I continued. "You sure don't seem happy."
They paused. "Uh, well, no, but happiness is overrated. These soft kids..."
I interrupted. "We all only get 1 life. You are choosing to burden yourself with all of this BS, since the system is broken (actually, working as intended) and you feel you have no choice; they are choosing to live their life on their own terms. I don't think they're lazy; I think they're choosing not to participate in a system that won't give them anything, only take from them."
They got quiet after that, mumbled something about "still seems lazy,", but I walked away. Maybe I changed their mind, maybe not; but I definitely gave them something to think about.

I say: wait until those damn kids realize they are alone in the world and have to fend for themselves. Then the illusion of fun disappears real quick lol
