I decided to opt out of the strip club and instead drove around Raleigh for 6 hours with Melissa doing absolutely nothing but eating and laughing and listening to music and joking. =) Then we decided to sneak into this old, colonial, GIGANTIC house (not really, Melissa knows the owner who gave us the key) to spend the night.
Derek sent me a package full of goodies he got in Spain! It finally arrived from England. He sent me -tons- of Spanish chocolate, a t-shirt that smells like him (aw), a t-shirt that says "My boyfriend went to Spain and all I got was this lousy t-shirt," the new limited edition Rammstein CD, a DVD called UHF by Weird Al since it's one of my favorites, and an ice tray. That's because I told him I want "ice" but he can't afford to get it to me right now. He said it was "a lame reminder that he will."

The chocolate is seriously delicious.
I also bought a new vibrator. lolol. Check it out!

ALSO!!!
I believe I have made my decision about graduate school, even though I am only in my first year of undergraduate studies. I am on a roll!
I am going to apply to MIT, Northwestern University and Purdue University, where I will try to get my Ph. D. in five years. I am at North Carolina State University now, so that will definitely be my back up school, since I am pretty much guaranteed admission there.
The "overview" of the mathematics programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northwestern and Purdue (NC State's is like... 1029398234 words long) are:
MIT:
The department offers programs covering a broad range of topics leading to the Doctor of Philosophy and the Doctor of Science. Numerous informal seminars, as well as a joint weekly mathematics colloquium sponsored alternately by MIT, Brandeis, Harvard, and Northeastern supplement the subject offerings.
Candidates whose primary interest is in the field of pure mathematics ordinarily take most of their subjects in the department. In addition to their advanced specialization, students are encouraged to acquire breadth by taking basic subjects in analysis, algebra, geometry, Lie theory, logic, and topology.
The following are sample programs for the oral Qualifying Examination from recent oral exams; the main topic is listed first:
1. Lie Algebra and Lie Groups, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology
2. Partial Differential Equations, Algebraic Topology, Geometry of Manifolds
3. Number Theory, Commutative Algebra, Functional Analysis
4. Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Topology, Real Analysis
5. Algebraic Topology, Number Theory, Differential Geometry
6. Constructibility, Computation Theory, Algebraic Topology
7. Differential Geometry, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology
A Thesis Proposal, worked out in consultation with and approved by the student's Thesis Advisor is to be submitted to the Graduate Committee for approval. This proposal should be about five pages, consisting of a preliminary thesis title, background summary with relevant bibliography and a description of the proposed research. The signature of the thesis advisor is required on all thesis proposals. This proposal should be submitted within a year after the orals are passed or at the beginning of the 6th semester of graduate work whichever is earlier. If a student's thesis plans change substantially, a revised proposal should be submitted.
Northwestern:
Our doctoral program provides a broad background in mathematics coupled with intensive training in an area of specialization. The curriculum is flexible, allowing you to design the best program for your needs and interests.
You'll receive guidance throughout your studies from our faculty of distinguished mathematicians. To help you get to know them, we host departmental teas every weekday afternoon. Our extremely low student-faculty ratio, small class size, and close interactions among students and faculty allow us to give you individualized, expert attention that would be hard to find at a larger school.
We are proud that most of our students complete their PhD within five years. As long as they remain in good standing, they receive support from the department for this whole period, typically as a teaching assistant. The first year of graduate study is usually spent taking courses and preparing for the preliminary examination at the start of the second year; our students have no teaching duties during this year.
Distinguished scholars, a flexible curriculum, and personalized guidance all contribute to the excellence of Northwestern's graduate program in mathematics. We hope you'll join us.
Purdue:
The Department of Mathematics offers programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. There are several programs leading to the Master of Science degree, some of which prepare the student to seek nonacademic employment, others prepare the students to continue to the Ph.D. degree. The interdisciplinary Computational Science and Engineering program gives students the opportunity to study mathematics and computing in a multi-disciplinary environment. The master's degree program requires 30 hours of coursework. The other programs include the new Computational Finance Program which requires 34 hours of coursework. There are no required oral or written examinations, and a thesis is not required. A student with a half-time teaching assistantship normally takes two years to complete the master's degree program.
Among the requirements for the Ph.D. are a minimum of 42 hours of graduate work, reading knowledge in one foreign language, passing written qualifying examinations and an oral specialty examination, writing a thesis, and passing a final oral examination based on the thesis. A student with a half-time teaching assistantship would require a minimum of four years to complete the Ph.D. program, and most students spend five or six years in the program.

I would -like- to be able to get into MIT, but I'm not exactly sure if it will happen. It's -so- competitive there, but I think I might try anyway. They have financial aid based on need and merit, and fuck, if I can get in there, I would be -so- fucking lucky, you know? I think I'll try. I might have a good shot.
Woo! Check out the ratings of MIT (3), Northwestern (11), Purdue (14) and North Carolina State (35.. I think.) http://tinyurl.com/gpqbe

Just want to let you know that I really like the stars around your hair line. Cool idea.

Okay, but what do you want to do with your degree??
