Yesterday was a lot of music. I went to Justin's to record around 12. We layed down a basic track and I overdubbed bass, acoustic guitar, and a vocal track. It's coming out really well and it's cool to be working with my friends. Justin & Kyle are offering production advice and it's good to have their input after working on my own so much. They've suggested ideas I never would have come up with on my own.
I busted out of there around 6 to run home and grab some eats before running out the door again to rehearse with Alan & Nick. We're doing more early sixties type stuff & mainly originals. It's good to be playing upright bass again. I miss it. Unfortunately, these guys don't get together regularly so I'm not sure if anything will ever come of it.
I get home later, around 10, and receive an email from a friend of mine who tells me she heard The Shards being played on Dickie Barrett's morning show on Indie 103.1! He announced us twice and then said he loved the Shards. I don't know if anything will come of it, but it makes me happy to know I'm getting some airplay. If I had $ to press more CDs, I'd send some more in to their other shows. I haven't gotten a BMI check yet, but getting airplay on a commercial station in LA is no easy feat. My parents would be so....ah, whatever.
Carter & I ended up going out to Footsie's last night. I had a Don Julio Silver gimlet up & loaded up the jukebox. There was hardly anyone there. Smoked on the sidewalk out front staring at the street scene as the rain came down. If it weren't for my friends, I'd be sober and home a lot.
It's still raining. No busking today. I have to call again about that job. It's really irritating when people say "I'll call you later today" and they don't. I'm hungry, but I don't want to be desperate. I'll go to the gym later and think about joining the Midnite Ridazzz tonight if it's not raining out.
Tomorrow is the Chinese Golden Dragon New Year Parade.
Year of the cock! Ok, it's rooster, but I find it poetic considering our commander in chief.

gah! is it possible you are too optimistic? your golden key joke was pretty funny though. you'd be a fantastic physical therapist. there are graduate programs specifically for physical therapy? you should aim for that. there'd be an unending supply of patients.
