Hello all,
Its been a while since I have posted a blog that had substance, and hell, just a worthy blog. Things are busy, works insane, and with the exception of a few bumps in the road...life is pretty good.
Here was the trip to LA as it was lived by yours truly ....
WOKE up at the ass crack of dawn (well, it really was not dawn since THE SUN was still on the opposite side of the earth) which would happen to be 320am in the morning monday. Had flight line come pick me up, bring me to Logan airport. From there i met up with other members of Raytheon who was going out to LA for MMTN (Materials and Mechanical Technical Network symposium). We boarded the American Airlines flight 25 (Boeing 757) Taxied down the run way andddddd, made a U turn back to the terminal. Apparently the check engine light was on (NOT GOOD). The mechanics came out to solve the problem, said they fixed it, signed off the paperwork, gassed the plane back up and we were ready to go....so we all thought....turned on the engines and went back into the terminal. Well, the light went back on, had it checked again, FINALLY after 2.5 hours of sitting in the plane NOT MOVING we were told no go, the plane was grounded and good luck finding another flight...FRIGGIN SWEET!!
The next avaliable flight out (strait shot) was not till 730pm that nite, or flight was supposed to take off at 7am!! Myself and other members were stuck in logan. Luckly we were able to get a 10 dollar certificate to get food and got a discounted price ticket into the admirals club (nice comfy place, but id rather be HEADED to my destination than sitting around forever waiting). The flight out was delayed and we did not get off the ground till 930am. There i was stuck between a chick on my right who wanted to take up more room than what was allotted and an old guy who kept PASSING GAS for the majority of the flight ( i was in fear of dying due to the possible gas of femeldahide he could have been pumped with)....I had my air nozzle turned on to max...was waiting for the oxygen masks to deploy, they in turn, did not.
FINALLY made it to LA, got into my hotel room at close to 4am Boston time (thus being up for 24 hours and so on). Thank god i did not have to present the next day.
The hotel room was sweet, had a 32" LCD Flat panel TV, 2 beds (not like i needed it), and lots of room. The Symposium was great, i learned a lot (like i need to get moving on my masters degree cause i felt retarded not fully understanding what some people were presenting!!). The food was great, we had a guest speaker who gave a great talk and also made it fun at the same time. I got to only head down to Manhattan beach for food and a walk, i did not have many people i knew out there and to hang out with. Though, watching the sun set a few times over the ocean was great (yes, i held myself, it was beautiful lmfao). My presentation went well, I was happy with the turn out, and the questions asked. Over all i would say it was a success.
I had my flight back home on friday afternoon. LUCKILY that was extremely UNEVENTFUL! lol. The only excitement i had was when we went to decent to land back in Logan. From the rain that embellowed the week, it left 30+ mph winds that rattled the plane. Had a couple sitting next to me, the chick was freaking out, and if u know me, i dont do carnival rides, so i was trying to keep myself calm and she was not helping (epically when she blurted out "omg, were going to die"...dumb)....anywho, I got back to my house around midnight, was good to be home...
I enjoyed LA alot. I would really like to go back there on vacation or some sort of travel that would allow me to go explore with someone. Its so relaxed out there. When I went to the beach and chilled out at the pier, it was a Tuesday night and there were groups of people playing volleyball, running, skating, and surfing. Which was pretty cool, id love to live a life like that...stuck up New Englanders!!
I probably missed a few things...
Thanks for reading!
