I received one of the best compliments ever this week: "You're looking more like a Suicide Girl every day."
---
Since finally taking the decision to sign-up to the Suicide Girls website I have been totally overwhelmed by the positive response. I wasn't sure how I was going to be perceived considering I'm on the pluser side of plus size and I wasn't sure if I'd fit in. But I have to say I've had to reel in my ego quite a bit considering the comments and messages I've received. Thank you so much.
So what else has happened since signing up? Well, as I haven't had any body mods in quite some time I decided that I was going to get something done. I'm meant to be saving my money to get inked at the London Tattoo Convention in September but I just got a bit itchy and had to do something. I eased this itch by getting a piercing.
I already have a few visible ones (ears, nose, lip, upper lip frenum) so I thought something a bit secret would be good. I went for my left nipple. I took along a colleague who I seriously doubt has ever seen the inside of a piercing studio in her life. It was quite funny to watch her reactions to the glass cases of jewellery that lined the walls. I left her on the settee while I went off to get needled. I always get shakey as the adrenaline starts flowing, I feel find but apparently my pupils explode, I go very pale and look like I'm going to pass out. This in iteself is amusing to watch people panic thinking I'm going to hit the deck any second when I feel perfectly fine. Anyway, I've had 13 piercings previously and have never made so much as a whimper in any of them. Perhaps a sharp inhale but no sound. Until now. The piercer had to take a minute after the needle went in because he was laughing so much at my reaction. He said it was like a cartoon "Yeee-ooow!" and had to calm himself before adding the jewellery. And that was it. All done. I loved it immediately. I put my clothes back on and went back into the waiting room where my colleague was now sat looking rather sheepish next to an enormous mohican-haired guy covered in tattoos and piercings. I think she was quite glad to leave.
As much as I love the feeling of my new piercing (and the fact I wanted to send an e-mail around the company saying: "Hey guys, guess what I did on my lunch hour!") it just didn't scratch the itch I had. I got pierced on Wednesday. On Thursday I was contacting a tattoo studio to see if they had any availability for Friday afternoon. I checked out a few websites and researched some artists and found that Joey Von Kelley was visiting a studio in Manchester, where I was going to be this weekend. So I e-mailed them the design and the appointment was booked. How excited? Much!
After sleeping late on Friday morning, missing my train, paying three times as much for a new ticket and then finally getting to Manchester, I headed straight for Blue Blood. Cut an already too-long story short, the tattoo lasted 3 and 1/2 hours. I hadn't eaten all day because of the rushing around and, as a result, after 3 hours I'd hit my limit. I was really hurting. It looked amazing from what I could see but I'd had enough. I managed to hold out and finally it was done.
I'm so pleased with it. And teamed up with the piercing I feel really sexy, but secretly sexy because no-one can see either of them. I'm now planning my next tattoos if I can manage to save enough money for September. And that's how I received the original compliment. Being compared to the beautiful women on this website is just amazing. I hope I can do it justice when I get my first proper set done in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again to everyone for the amazing support. It really means a lot.
