I just bought a 17lb turkey for $1.66. I hadn't planned on it but when I noticed the price I figured hell, if I can eat for a whole week on that then I'd save all kinds of money. Anyhow, there's a turkey cooking right now.
I'm such an idiot too. I was reading the directions and it said to remove the giblets from the inside. So I'm sitting here looking through the insides trying to find the heart and shit, but couldn't. I was like WTF? I was looking up the bird's ass and not down it's neck. Secondly they were all prepackaged and sitting in the neck cavity. All this time I thought it was going to be something I'd have to cut out with a knife.

As far as the giblets, a lot of that stuff is actually edible. The gizzard and neck is. And cooking with them is isnt really that big of a deal. There is a LOT of flavor in that stuff. Usually you reomove that stuff, and either put it in a Tea-bag-like bag or it's already inside one in the turkey, but when you remove it, you use that bag of deliscious flavor to make the gravy.
