Chilli. If there is one thing I really love, it's an awesome chilli. With that in mind, last weekend saw the UK's first Chilli Stand Off. Now I don't know about everywhere else in the world, but when I was growing up there was one episode of The Simpsons, that made out like the US have these types of things pretty frequently. Well, this was my chance to go to a real one.
Anyway, the event was awesome. 9 different chillies, cooked by various chefs, restaurants, pop-up kitchens, and a lot of free drink! It was in a really nice venue too - some old tram shed in the heart of East London.
Some of the chillies were awesome, some of them were foul. The one that I LOVED had 10 different types of meat in it (Sorry to all the vegetarians! I'm a massive carnivore, but also a rabbit owner, so it's not all dinner to me.), but a lot of people found it too smokey. The rightful chilli won, but the two runners up were pretty crap, in my opinion - one of those being cooked by a chef from The Fat Duck (a Michelin star rated restaurant). He was a smug twat, so I'm glad he didn't win.
Here's a few pics. I'm looking overly bearded at the mo, as I'm prepping for Movember - but more on that later this week.
