Pushing forward

Every day just seems to be a repeat of the day before. I found myself yesterday just saying "Different day, same thing." And it really is, routine can be both a comfort and a killer. Too much routine makes every day feel the same, making me start to wonder what the point is any more. But there is nothing else for it but to push ahead, because you never know what the next day will bring. Maybe even something great.

For instance, something from the back of my mind percolated to the front yesterday. I have always wanted to build Lego things, but it's so expensive and I just cannot justify it. Modelling can also be expensive, but I digress. So I remembered that a few years ago I saw that someone had made Lego plans for a Space 1999 Eagle. I looked around and found someone on Etsy had them! I picked up those plans and am preparing to do that project after I finish this model! I am super excited by this project. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I'm going to let my inner child out to play.

I grew up playing with Legos, but that was before there were Lego sets that build very specific things. Then it was buy a package of several hundred bricks and build whatever. And bricks they were...everything was square, there was no round and very few angles. I'm not saying it was better or worse, just that's what they were. We kept them in a huge cardboard box and boy did my Dad hate when we dumped them out. He hated the noise they made and that we had a huge pile of them. We could never leave them out and any project hard to be finished or back in the box it went. Since seeing all the Lego models come out I've been intrigued by them. So now I'm going to really dig in.

This model looks to be 4 feet long! It's huge. I have to source out the blocks and that will probably be really expensive. So it might have to take place over time, we'll see. I'm trying to allow myself $100 a month for modelling, so we'll see how far this gets me in building this one. With over 7000 pieces at a minimum, it will probably take a while. But, then, that's what a project is...something over time.

Well, I seem to have a very active bird right now demanding my attention and trying to drink my tea. Much love to you. I hope you are doing well and staying happy. Hugs! **MWAH**

I loved creating things with lego when I was a kid! Very enjoyable 🙂 I'll be interested to see how you progress with your project...
