Today I am starting on the bigger pieces of the current model I'm working on, the big ship Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's going to be 41" long overall, and I have no idea where I'm going to put it when I'm done! :-D It's gratifying to start to see the pieces coming together after a few weeks working on the small pieces. I'll still need to put down another coat of paint to blend some of the glue marks and seams.
Karen fired off the kiln last night (did I tell you we have a pottery studio in the basement complete with a good sized electric kiln?) so it's running a glaze fire. Most of the work in it is from a friend who is Karen and her sister's pottery teacher, but there's some from Karen. It takes a night to fire, then a few days to cool down before it can be opened.
We went to kung fu last night, actually went to the kwoon! It was so nice to be able to go again and get the energy there. We are still maintaining distancing there. It really wore us out because while we have been doing kung fu at home over Zoom, we have not been pushing ourselves as hard and we certainly have been letting our forms slip. So the corrections and the intensity was, while exhausting, really great to get back to again.
It's raining here again, and still surprisingly cool. I'm not complaining. I like the rain and the cool weather. Karen's on the phone having another interview with one of the new job prospects. I hope it continues to sound as good of a job as it did at first. She really needs to leave the place she's been at now for 25 years and start fresh somewhere that might appreciate her more. She is, after all, a biostatistical goddess and should be appreciated for it!
I hope wherever you are you are having a great day and doing well. Much love and many hugs. **MWAH**
