Whew, survived another session at Kung Fu. The style I am working on is Tibetan Hopgar Sanda. It's a heck of a workout and I'm so glad I keep convincing myself to go and get that workout. We are often ridiculous and silly, and have a good time. We don't take ourselves seriously, but really work hard. We even have a guy who is trying to go professional in the MMA that is training along with us. It's great to see not only his progression, but mine alongside. Do I ever plan on fighting? No, definitely not. Am I taking it to be safer? No. I'm taking it because it's fun and more entertaining to me than a gym workout. The people are all very encouraging and recognize I am not in as good a shape as most of them, but they still appreciate me.
Last night was the first night I was injured. We were going lots of sparring and grappling, I came away with a bloody toe, a blackening eye and a wrenched shoulder and ankle. The guys I was sparring with is a little floppy and intense, and forgets himself sometimes. Oh well, I may be old (still the oldest one in the dojo), but I still heal up pretty fast. :-)
Any plans for the weekend? Karen and I are going to a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game tonight. I get to pick up a new jersey that I ordered with Andrei Svechnikov on the jersey. He's young, but I really like his style. Otherwise, we are having friends over on Sunday for games. Not sure yet about Saturday.
I hope you all are doing well and have a great day today. Loves and hugs! MWAH!
