FIRST SPACESHIP ON VENUS, 1960 color
Rock found in Gobi Desert shows that the Tunguska Blast was really a spaceship from Venus that crashed, leaving behind a data record. We have a lunar base, but have never gone to investigate Venus. Seems an oversight. So Earth sends a spaceship to Venus. On the way they face the dangers of a meteor swarm…oh wait, never mind, they avoided it. On the way they finally finish deciphering the data record and it turns out it is a plan for invading the Earth! They finally land on Venus. They keep trying to contact the Venutians, but only receive silence. They find a large white metal sphere and have many theories, but no conclusion, as to what it is. They find a slagged city and get slimed by some sort of organic slime. Blah blah blah…anyway, turns out this was a cautionary tale about nuclear war and all the Venutians were killed by nukes. The lines were a little slim, but here are the best I could find.
Favorite lines:
Professor Sikarna: “The metal insects you found for us shows something very significant.”
Harringway: “That’s very interesting. Go on.” No it’s not. It’s not interesting at all!
Sumiko: “I think he might have internal injuries. I should operate.” Wait, that doesn’t sound very certain. And oh gods the operating table looks like a torture device!
THE ALPHA INCIDENT, 1977 color
A space probe returns a microorganism from Mars. It’s then shipped to Colorado by train. Possible the worst train they could ever choose, judging by the spitting and drinking conductor Hank. So of course Hank steals the keys to take a look and gets infected. The train stops at Moose Point (HA!) where Hank immediately infects Jenny, Jack and Charlie so they are all quarantined. Jack runs but Sorenson shoots him in the arm to stop him (they fix him up with a small first aid kit). Hank flips out but Sorenson shoots him in the leg, but he still gets away. Hmm, I wonder how many other body parts we’re going to shoot? Jack proceeds to annoy the crap out of everyone. They are told they all have to stay awake or the virus will kill them. And Jack continues to annoy us all, including the audience. Jack gets Jenny drunk-ish and takes advantage of her. Charlie’s the first to fall asleep, which apparently then causes the brain to explode. Jenny steals Sorenson’s gun and kills herself. Damn, why couldn’t it be Jack?!? Government delivers the “antidote” but it turns out to be cyanide. Jack finally dies. Finally. Sorenson apparently isn’t infected after all, but the military sends in some peeps to kill him. So, there’s the Incident. Looks like we just wiped out the population of Moose Point. My brain feels kinda mushy and like it's going to explode too after watching this.
Favorite lines:
Hank: “Yes sir, I knew you ain’t no real conductor. A real conductor don’t use words liken that.” **spit**
Sorenson: “Words like what?”
Hank: “Perpetuate an a stuff liken that.” **spit**
Jack: “What’s a biochemist doing in Moose Point?” What indeed.
Hank: “Ain’t nobody gunna die just cause I broke three little vials?” Of course they are, Hank. Look at the movie you’re in.
Jenny: “I don’t understand.” Jenny says this a lot.
