Blood is trickling down my finger, which is numb from the tip to second joint. After cleaning it and cutting away the loose skin it soaks through 2 bandaids before I can get it to stop bleeding so much. Yes, Phryne has struck again.
I really wish I knew what to do. I truly don't think she is making a connection between her biting and being told "no bite" and being locked back in her cage. She was sitting with me on the couch, pecking gently at my fingers wanting me to scratch her head. I scratched her head for about 5 minutes, her eyes were closed in pleasure, then...snap. ANd not just a bite and release, but a bite, slight loosening, then digging in again deeper. I told her "no bite" strongly ( knew I was really injured but kept calm), and she huffed in frustration. I picked her up and took her back to her cage and locked her in. Went up to tend to my wound and she kept hollering because I had left her alone. When I finally returned, she stopped yelling and happily went to eating in her cage.
I don't know what to do. I'm told to not pull away, so I don't and she digs in deeper. I'm told to not react and just separate myself from the situation then come back and treat it like nothing happened, but I don't think she is getting the message that biting is bad as there is no consequence to her. I am told to put her back in her cage when she bites me as punishment, but she seems to be very happy in her cage. I'm told to not put myself in any position that results in biting, but since I get no warning, that means I cannot interact with her in any way.
I am so totally lost and confused as to what to do.
Oh, and my finger is really starting to burn now, so a delightful combination of numbness and burning pain.
