somebody once told me that "everything is more complicated than visible" and it's just that, the dizzying sense that this is all just a succession of moments, singularities, that refuse to be repeated or resolved, that terrifies me and drives me to make the work I do. I see drawing as a speculative process: working directly on the wall, responding to architectural and human context, trying to make sense of fractured geometries, garbled syntax, and exploring the points at which they begin to unravel...
"if there is any absolute, it is never more than this one: you, this instant, in action"

does that make any sense to the real world or is it just ArtWank? I'm in a show in a couple of weeks and they asked me for a personal statement, and that's pretty much what I came up with and I can't figure out if it says anything at all.
Damn it, why do I find it so hard to say just what I think?
Sometimes I just wish I could leave my own head for a few minutes...moments when I could look down with beatific calm and see it all, understand where and why I've fucked up. Second guess my next move and understand the way things really are. Is it all really as complicated as I make it out to be?
Objectivity is not my strong point in my real life.

Edited to say:
Go see Huckabees. It's great as long as you don't think about it too much. I even managed to ignore Jude Law for an entire film without retching!
And while you're at it, "Napoleon Dynamite" is good too. A little bit close to home sometimes, and I'm not saying any more than that.
And "Garden State" looks good too.....
