I am sore today!!!
Uncle and I decided that we needed to shake down one of the new rally cars this weekend...forutnately we took the slower of the two caged up cars. We are still not 100% sure what happened...but after watching the in-car video, it looks like I read a pace-note late, Al tried to take a turn a bit faster than he should have, we hit a hidden rock with the driverside rear tire and spun into the woods. The car was destroyed but we both climbed out under our own power...it's funny how long 30 seconds can seem to take. As things were happening, it seeemed like it took FOREVER to get a verbal that Al was ok, then to confirm that I was really ok, then to get out of the belts, and slide out the window...When we watched the tape for the 1st time, Al looked at me and pointed out how quickly we got out...so we timed in the second time through...27 seconds from when the car stops moving, until Al climbs out the passenger side window!
The car is...well...lets just say it's a good thing that the otehr car is faster because this one = scrap. Took a solid hit just behind the passenger--MY--door, then hit a grand piano-sized rock almost head on. The cage, belts & HANS all worked though...The HANS really paid for itself this weekend!
Oh, and the GF...NOT impressed!!! I always joke with her when I go biking or rallying that if I die she can have all my "stuff"...the first thing she said after the wreck was, "You don't even have anything I want."
