I'm now home in Vancouver.
Here is a run down of my icky trip back to Calgary...
I slept in on Saturday morning as I didn't hear my alarm go off. I was so tired I slept through it. The cats woke me up.
I got to the airport & there were no luggage carts outside so I had to struggle into the airport with 3 pieces of luggage & no one offers to help. They do stand around & watch. Some guy even stands behind me in the doorway & complains that I'm taking too long to get indoors. Once inside there are still no carts anywhere. The handle on my suitcase has also broken by this time & I haul my stuff to the West Jet line up where I stand around waiting for hour even though there are only 5 people ahead of me. None of the West Jet staff standing around offer to help with my stuff but they do put me on the next flight to Calgary for a $40 charge since I've now missed my flight. Then the other handle on my suitcase breaks on my way to the luggage belt. My mom calls when I'm at the gate & asks how things are. I'm tired, frustrated & sad. I almost start crying on the phone. You know how some people cry easily? I'm not a crier, that's not me.
I get to Calgary & it's -25 & snowing with a -30 windchill.
On Sunday evening my cell phone stops working, not sure why.
I also loose my internet as Shaw is having service problems in my area & they don't know when it will be fixed. I'm now cut off from communication unless I go across the street & use the outdoor pay phone in the -30 wind chill.
Monday I find out that the airport shuttle I had booked on Sunday night is no longer running because they don't have any staff to work. That evening I decide to walk home from my brother's place in the -30 cold. I slip on ice & now have a lovely bruise on my left side. The dry, cold weather has also set off my asthma. I have not been bothered by it in several years.
On Tuesday afternoon my phone decides to start working. I check the voicemail & find out that my movers are 1 or maybe even 2 days behind due to snow storms in BC. They were supposed to show up today at 6pm. I need to be at work in Vancouver tomorrow morning & can't wait around here. I have a little bit of a panic & once again I'm almost in tears. What the hell is that all about? I will not be one of those crying women. My brother agrees to come to my place & supervise the movers so now I'm covered.
My flight home to Vancouver is at 9:45pm. I start calling cabs at 6:15pm & at 7pm I still can't get through. The lines are all busy. I decide to take the bus downtown & catch a cab from a hotel. I end up flagging a passing cab from the bus stop. Something has finally gone right. But then the cab driver decides that one of my $20 bills looks counterfeit & won't accept it. I go to the West Jet counter where they trade me for another bill. They know it's not fake. I also lost my bank card in the airport, my flight to Vancouver is now late & my iPod decided to stop working.
I get to Vancouver & West Jet has lost my suitcase. They can't locate it & don't even know if it was put on the flight.
I hate Calgary.
