I was making a wish list yesterday and came across the fabulous Marchesa Casati...
She was the most scandulous and eccentric celebrity of the 1920's and 30's. She was famous for going for walks naked, draped in diamnods and furs with her cheetahs on a leash, which she would then skin for their fur when they died.
Her servants were naked, and she dined with wax mannequins as dinner guests. She wore live snakes as jewellery (her pet boa constrictor once escaped in the Ritz in Paris). She is now buried in London with a taxidermied Pekinese at her feet with the quote from Shakespeares Antony and Cleopatra 'Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety.' inscribed on her grave.
If you could meet anyone from the past, who would it be?
