For my first journal entry here on SG, I wanted to share an event from this evening. As I was walking home, I noticed a bum leaning against the outside wall of Starbucks asking random people for spare change as they walked by. When I started getting close, I could already feel him looking at me, thinking something along the lines of "She looks generous". Well, he asked if I had any spare change, and, alas, I had just used the last of it on the ice cream vending machine on campus (what an amazing contraption, but we can discuss that at a later time). I started walking away, but had an afterthought and turned to ask if I could take his picture. He said "why not", so I turned the camera on and began to focus. I asked him what his name was before actually taking the picture and he looked at me and said very seriously "macaroni". So I finished taking the picture and looked at him as I was readjusting the camera around my neck and told him, "Okay, that's how I'm putting it down in my book." So he said "Thank you, ma'am," and I walked away. I met Mr. Macaroni. I rule.
