So last weekend I was in Rome...
I had such a good time and went to so many amazing places. For those who don't know I have never really been one for travelling so this was also the first time I had ever been on a plane before. It was all very exciting and very new to me. The flight there went well and I didn't die of 'flaming death and crash' . The hotel was very nice but the staff seemed to be in a world of their own, either being rude or just not passing on information. For example just before we went out for the night we asked about the internet costs and use of the hotel's wi-fi which required a password. In the end after talking to the man on the desk we decided to buy an hours worth of internet time which we thought we would use when we got back from our night out. However when we got back the password didn't work. So in the morning before we went out we asked why the password didnt work and was told by the new person on the desk that we had to activate the account within the hour, he said that because of the misunderstanding we would get a new password for free. Because we were going out for the day we said would sort it all out when we got back. When we did get back and explained to the new person on the desk what had happened and asked for a new password he said we would have to pay for it again. I tried to explain to him that his colleague had informed us it would be free, but he said, 'well it wasn't me this morning so you will have to pay again' Nice service! In the end after a few exchanges in itallian to a woman on the phone he let us have a free password for the time we had already paid for.
The people of Rome however were mainly very friendly. We met a old south african woman who spotted us as being lost tourists while we were roaming the streets on the first night and she gave us a little tour of the place as well as a few useful tips about crossing the road "it's all about eye contact"
For the four days there we went to so many beautiful places. Historic sites, great resturants, and amazing views. I would so love to go there again some day.

This weekend I went to Brighton for a friends birthday and saw Live/Wire who were an amazing AC/DC tribute band. However the best part of the night was that Sally and I stayed at the Drakes hotel, which i have to say was one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed in. There was a bath in the room which you could fit a family of four in!!! So you guys can get an idea here is a picture of one of the rooms from their website...
Swish huh?

I adore Rome. I've been twice and loved it both times. I feel its a city you really need to enjoy by day and by night. And eat ice cream
