I wanted to go back and do the blog homework that @missy and @rambo assigned before i tackled the Valentines day one, Mainly because this blog homework is important to me ^_^
Breaking a habit.
Its harder then it seems, most likely one of the harder things I've had to do.
You might have noticed that there has been a super increase in the photos that i'm posting where i'm vaping, There is reason for it!
I've been a smoker for oh, I don't know, Since high school maybe? And honestly, I've never really wanted to quit. I still cant say that i entirely wanted to. Its hard to kick a habit when your constantly in an environment where it is happening, or you have easy access to it. I worked at a strip club for 3 years, and both myself and my boyfriend were smokers. It was only too easy just to continue to do so. I Genuinely enjoyed smoking, i didn't hate going outside or the smell or the cost. None of it bugged me.
My boyfriend, He wanted to quit first, he mentioned it to me several times.. And even tried to a few times but sadly i always dragged him back down the windy rabbit hole of "Just one more"
I finally come to the conclusion that it wasn't just the nicotine i wanted but the actual act of smoking its self that i enjoyed. So being the amazing guy that he is, and the true desire that he actually had himself to want to quit he took an interest in vaping. He did the research, looked into if it was a safer alternative. I mean, what really is safer? The only safe way to quit smoking is to do it cold turkey right? I wasn't having any of that Haha.
He knew that he could slowly but surely wean me off the light sticks and onto the pens, he just needed time and he needed to find flavors that would make me want to try it. At first, I wasn't super interested. The Vapor is a different kind of smoke when it you inhale it, Its thicker, more full if you will. At first the smoke was too thick, which was strange because being such an active smoker of both Weed and Tobacco i usually don't have a problem with it. It took me a little while to get used to it, But even so i was working at a bar that regularly had cigarettes and people to smoke them with, I still didn't see or need a reason to quit. Even though i wasn't having too much interest in the Vape pens the boy wasn't giving up, Just backing off.
Finally, When i decided to make the choice to leave the bar and no longer be in that environment, I found myself with a little free time on my hands. I met some great people with some great advice that gave me incentives to want to use my vape pen more. Plus, i mean, I stopped working... I stopped Having an income for a good month or so and the boy was so wonderful and thought ahead. I had a working pen and all the juice in the world to get used to a different type of nicotine to cut the cravings.
Poor guy, I was grouchy. Mad. Annoyed. Temperamental. It was hard at first to switch. But i just kept pushing in the direction of not smelling like an ashtray anymore.
I stopped buying packs of cigarettes about 4 months ago and started using my pen, Sometimes i was smoking up to a pack a day when i was out socializing. I stopped even thinking about wanting to go buy any, It was incredible. Yes, I'm still consuming nicotine, no i haven't fully escaped the beast but man, I have come a long way.
So yes, You're going to see more post of vape and smoke. But I've come to really enjoy the photography that comes with smoke. Its sometimes incredibly elegant. Plus, Vaping is starting to pay my bills :D
So that's the habit i broke, and it wasn't a good time :3
