Moscow trip Chapter 2:
Met this nice couple from Florida staying in m y hotel. They have just adopted two little Russian boy orphans. They were so happy. The kids soon became stars of the breakfast room. They've promised to update me on the boys' progress once that get back to the States.
About my hotel. I've stayed there before many years ago when it was run by the local communist party. It's now been updated a little with new b athrooms and better staff and food. But some of the old staff were still there and one or two remembered me. But then I was living there for three months using a bedroom as an office. It's good because it's right in the centre and close to some of my favourite restaurants etc. And by the way, I fell in love with the girl running the kiosk in the foyer. A real cutie who's coming to visit me in England next summer. Unfortunately the tourists stuff she was selling was way to expensive. I went to an out of town market and bought the same things for a tenth of the price.
But her sexy smile did make me part with a few bucks for a necklace. Well, you know how it is guys.
The driver I hired was a real hoot. He used to work for a pal of mine who was bureau chief foran American network. He drives like a maniac through the Moscow traffic, swearing all the time at other drivers. His favourite trick is trying to run over traffic cops.
He hates them because most are corrupt. They pull you over and ask for a fine on the spot which goes in their back pocket. Boris is very city wise and knows where all the cheap good caffes are, Like me he suffers from mild diabetes, but we both like cheating with the great cakes on offer. I guess he's about sixty five, but still has an eye for the ladies and acted as my spotter as we raced along the streets. He has his own marking system, as if judging an ice skating competition, scoring seperately for boobs, bums and legs. At the speed he drives there's no time to mark for style. But when he hits the brakes suddenly I know I'm in for a treat.
