Photo is the view of Nonesuch Creek - a tributary of the Christina River - from my room in the hospital managed shelter where I’m staying while recovering from open heart surgery. Over the past 3 months I’ve seen all sorts of wildlife out there from eagles clasping fish and snakes from the water, snapping turtles warming themselves along the creek bank, geese plucking at tadpoles, and even a few deer. It’s been quite cathartic. But today my doctors are telling me it’s time to fast track my exit, including looking for stable housing somewhere close to all the medical providers I’m still tethered to.
A sort of big deal is an upcoming inpatient cardiac inversion shock while sedated to hopefully get my heart to begin firing in a normal rhythm. It’s been stuck in atrial fibrillation ever since the surgery to replace a bad valve. I get too easily exhausted doing simple tasks and that must change if I’m to move on to a better life. I hope I survive the procedure and I hope I can find new housing, either way I’ll miss this place. The staff has been very courteous.
And so… in the groove of everything in its own season, here’s a look wayyy back to The Byrds performing Turn Turn Turn 🎶
