…well, sort of. A new Boot kit executable virus has been discovered, affecting virtually every Windows, Dell, HP, Lenovo pc or pad. The embedded news story contains a lot of high tech gobbledegook, but the message is this: check with your device homepage for patches, immediately! And don’t think you can kill it by resetting or restoring your BIOS from scratch, it still lurks deep within your motherboard and will reactivate once you reboot. PC makers and affected chip designers like AMD and Intel admit they got caught flat footed.
As of now there doesn’t appear to be any Apple devices infected, but I suspect they will issue a security update soon or include a patch within the upcoming iOS 17.2 launch.
