The key to my own room š
Seven years of homelessness just ended. Passed the background check to get a permanent room at the YMCA here in Wilmington DE, well within my disability income so now I can get a real computer and admire SGās and Hopefuls even more than I do now.
This week has been especially brutal on the street. Chilly breeze, high temperatures maybe hit 70Ā°F, and a near constant rain or drizzleā¦ and lightning, OMG there was lightning, one bolt according to the National Weather Service hit about 50ā-60ā away from me while I was in the park under a tree sitting on a steel bench - yeah, google that to fully understand the magnitude of this combination.
And so my friends, it is my sincere desire to beg of you to have compassion on those people who for whatever reasons have had their lives torn apart and are now homeless. A smile and a kind word means more than anything toward acknowledging that they are still alive. Until you walk in the shoes that I have you canāt imagine the shredding of oneās dignity by being constantly frowned upon or placed in a societal box of invisibleness and made to believe youāre useless and unwanted.
