Sooo… yesterday I found out my compression bandage and staples should’ve been removed 10 days ago to check for incision health. Now it’s infected, and the 2nd implanted defibrillator wasn’t properly retained in a pocket cut into left pectoral as usual. Instead the surgeon sewed up the existing pocket cut when original failed ICD had to be ripped out. Now it just looks and feels like I have a big cell phone battery under my skin because the surgeon just sqished the replacement ICD into the transdermal layer between skin and muscle, it’s not secure and I can move it (quite painfully) about an inch in any direction. Gravity pulls it down almost like it’s a 3rd boob… well for me maybe a first boob cause I already have moobs 🤣
So they’re evaluating how to properly secure it externally with a web of stitches, but have to wait until these new staples come out end of this month, eep!
