shows 1/3 of Pennsylvania US waterways are polluted beyond ability for long term sustainable healthy life.
I lived in central and s/e PA for about 19 years after I retired. Believe me… the waterway pollution problem is rampant due to unchecked toxic runoff from abandoned coal mines. Within my lifetime people used to fish and swim (even bathe) in the Schuylkill River in Schuylkill County. Now it’s an acidic soup of toxic metals and gasses no one wants to use for recreation or a food source.
THIS HAS TO CHANGE!!! Fat cat coal barons have treated the situation like a Ponzi scheme allowing government to pick up the tab for reclamation and restoration.while they raise prices and layoff workers to boast of cleaner coal management… it never happens! Nothing ever makes a lasting impact.
