Back home from my 2nd day of “rock hounding” in an abandoned local coal mine.
solid and very heavy chink of multicolored quartz crystals melded together by prehistoric volcanic action... there is a very tiny vein of gold running right through the middle, better seen as a wavy stripe in this daylight photo 👇
I want to polish it up with my mini Dremel craft tool using mineral oil and ultra fine pumice on a natural wool buffing wheel, that tiny wavy stipe of gold should really pop! ~ then make it into a pendant.
this is the showstopper! perfect angular solid raw single quartz crystal - see those darker spots? ...stay tuned!
same crystal, different angle *more dark spots* ~ wait for it...
when I was in the mine I randomly placed pieces of quartz crystals on the lens of my full wavelength torch lamp looking for occlusions and stratifications... and... it FLUORESCED! The entire cave suddenly lit up bright neon blue! My friend in Penn State University says it might be radioactive ☢️ the black spots might be uranium or plutonium crystals! She’s bringing her Geiger counter over this weekend and we’re gonna have a Naked Glow In The Dark Party! WOOHOO 🥳☠️🙈🙉🙊✨🧟♂️🧟♂️ 🎊
