Saw two excellent shows tonight:
1. Mimi's very evocative, very talented band, Black Forest/Black Sea. The best bookstore gig I've ever seen in my life.
2. Mindflayer (with some other great bands) in downtown Providence. The last time I saw them was three years ago....and I've missed them terribly. The noise is fucking cathartic!
Whenever I go to shows alone (which I do a lot, since most of my friends can't stomach the music I like), I always end up sitting alone in a corner somewhere between sets, looking angry (it's just the way my face goes, I swear!), and some well-meaning fellow will amble over and say, "Mind if I sit down?" and I say "No," because I really don't, and then he inevitably says, "You look so angry. Are you not having a good time?" and I say, "It's just the way my face goes, I swear!"
