Life progresses faster than you imagine when you're in your 20's. Suddenly, the days are long and the years are short. Just like they say. Holidays beckon and yet time ticks ticks ticks and eventually prevails. You're five years behind your goals, but that's acceptable. You've made progress in other areas, the ones that really matter. Your stepdaughter is 15. Your husband is almost 50. You're nearly 40. You have a family. You've had a family for the last eight years. Time has slipped away, minute by minute, year by year. So it goes.
And now you're progressing again. Your partner is fulfilled as a man, a partner, a father. He's shining. And your stepchild is moving towards independence, after years and years of Earthly needs. She's glowing. It's beautiful. It's painful. It's beautiful and painful all at once. The people you have come to love the most are growing and changing, evolving as humans do. And so are you.
Time marches on. Time will always march on.
I think this may be my last entry here.
