I'm back! My "new" 1961 Studebaker Hawk handled the 2500 mile drive from Indiana to California like a champ. I'm very pleased with it. It's basically a well-cared for car that hasn't been driven much - it's quite solid, but I need to take it into the shop to have a couple things worked on. I hope it'll be ready in time for Thursday Night Curry.
Sounds like I missed quite an event during last week's curry. Too bad I was out of town. But it was worth it: I got to meet tat2bob and his wife (and their cat and two dogs) in Indianapolis. They let me crash at their place last Sunday after I picked up the Hawk and Bob let me drink some of the kick ass beer he brewed himself. It's too bad they live so far away. They're super nice people and I'd hang out with them again in a second. Looks like they won't make the Disneyland trip, which is a major bummer.
I got the brochure for the '02-'03 season of the SF Symphony a couple days ago. Kurt Masur is guest conducting the symphony October 25 and 26. That's the weekend of the Disneyland trip! Oh, cruel fate, why dost thou mock me so? I was in Baltimore when Sir Georg Solti was scheduled to guest conduct the Baltimore Symphony, but he died before the concerts happened. And now Masur, whose recordings include some of my all time favorite interpretations of Romantic era music, is going to be in my own backyard when I'm out of town! Poop.
