Okay, okay, okay. Overreaction time is over.
She told me she doesn't do exclusive relationships. Implied that there's not one other particular someone. But she sees lots of people. And I'm one of them.
What do you guys think of that? I mean, it's not what I thought it was, but the bottom line is that not only is the physical chemistry palpable, but she really is thoughtful, sweet, genuinely concerned with how I feel... and she's straightforward. I didn't have to ask this stuff. She came out with it on the third date all on her own, just because she wanted everything to be clear. Also, she's aggressive about things she wants. Physically and in other ways, she initiates. That's huge for a shy boy like me. I can't tell you how many times recently I've wanted to make a move with someone, and sensed that they wanted the same, but been too shy to make the move.
And really, what kind of position am I in to be wanting exclusivity now? I'm about to go for six months in the fucking woods. She even pointed to that as a reason. In her words, "There's only one thing I don't want. I don't want you to stay home from the trail. Not if you really like me, not if you reallt like someone else... You want this too much, and you can't give it up for anyone." It really touched me, because I really think it's my well-being that she cares about.

Anyway, I think (and I never think this) that she actually wants to get... physically closer. Actually... from some of the things that she's said (and grabbed) I'm pretty sure of it. So much so that I went and bought a box of condoms for the first time since... well... ever! I've only had sex with one girl, my one serious girlfriend. She worked at planned parenthood, so she just brought them home with her.
