my dream is to become a professional storyteller. i want to tell in festivals across the nation - in schools - in libraries. i want to share my stories and simple music with everyone who's willing to listen. i want to know that a story can heal someone's aching soul and heart, and to have taken a part in that healing.
this friday night i'm going to my monthly storytelling event at a new art gallery in OKC. the theme this month is oklahoma stories to celebrate our centennial. it's a broad topic and as such, i've been tossing around the millieu of story ideas bouncing around my head. in the end, i think i'll tell about my family's trek to oklahoma from texas when i was but a wee lad. maybe i'll write it out and post it here -- if anyone's interested.
what i'd like to do is find a way to incorporate either my harmonica into it -- though a simple bongo would work best for the story. alas! i have no bongo .
it seems difficult to reach a dream -- to climb the mountains that stretch across the skies of our hearts and to finally drink from the fountains of our hopes and desires. but someday... someday i'll taste mine. anyone else ever have that feeling?

I get back next week. I remember story tellers from my childhood. They were wonderful and greatly affected me. I think it's a great idea.
