Somehow, until tonight, I avoided the steaming pile of pretentious rubbish that is Guy Ritchie's film, Revolver. But sadly, I somehow also avoided the many, many reviews that would have warned me off.
I can count the movies I have walked out of/ shut off on one hand. I sat through The Brown Bunny, for fuck's sake. But I had to hit the Stop button about an hour in.
Afterwards, of course, I had to go look it up, perhaps to remind myself to do this before viewing next time. 17% Rotten Tomatoes. My favorite quote:
Guy Ritchie's "Revolver" is a frothing mad film that thrashes against its very sprocket holes in an attempt to bash its brains out against the projector. It seems designed to punish the audience for buying tickets. It is a "thriller" without thrills, constructed in a meaningless jumble of flashbacks and flash-forwards and subtitles and mottos and messages and scenes that are deconstructed, reconstructed and self-destructed. I wanted to signal the projectionist to put a gun to it.
Good old Ebert - the worse the film, the funnier his review.

I'm not surprised no one got it. Most of what happened in the world before 1992 is a complete mystery to most of our generation i think....

I have taken direction and am feeling better. Still kind of ickers, but on my way to well.
