Leave it to William Saletan, contrarian bioethics journalist, to throw a wet blanket on the recent victory for gay rights (that's legalized marriage for all in California, if you've been like, living in a bunker or something.)
Being the sci-fi geek that I am, I've been concerned for a while that this might be the other shoe in the nature vs. nurture "debate." (yeah, debate, right. Also known as, "No, Thog, that's wrong. Also, the world is actually round.") Like other Gattacan nightmares, there isn't a whole lot, legislatively speaking, you can do about it - at least if you believe in reproductive rights. Come to think of it, the juxtaposition of arguments from the traditional pro-life and pro-choice camps would make the judges heads spin.
Which isn't to say such a mess is inevitable. After all, only eight years, ago, a majority in this state opposed gay marriage. Now they support it. But I wonder if enlightenment can move faster than bioscience.
In other news I have found a new project to occupy my attention, which is good since I have been a bit out of sorts since the old project collapsed. Not that work isn't keeping me busy, but I don't get to steer the ship there. The only drawback? It's an indie MMO. Am I crazy? Yeah, probably.
I miss the DNA Lounge.

Also, Gaiman was surprisingly good. If you want to check it out, go fun.here for the free download. It is only about 45min long, and pretty fun.
I want to hear more about this MMO too.
