Did the AHA Heartwalk today (really more of a heart run for me, because otherwise what's the point?) The event began at Justin Herman Plaza, which was packed with various corporate teams in colored t-shirts, volunteers making a last push for money, and several large squishy costumed characters, including a very energetic Charlie the Tuna handing out Starkist snack packs.
(Side Note: I like tuna, but it's not my first choice for a snack before running in a charity event.)
We milled around and listened to a few stories from heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest survivors, and watched some CEOs parade around on stage in red evening dresses (nice legs for 50 year old men, actually.) Then we were off. The walk itself was beautiful - the sun decided, unexpectedly, to grace us with its presence, boosting everyone's mood. Of course it also resulted in it being a lot hotter than I expected. Thank God the 24 Fitness, complete with handy showers, is only one block away from work.
Anyway, a huge thank you to everyone who gave. As some of you may know, my little brother has had some cardio-weirdness going on lately (a still undiagnosed heart flutter), so this meant even more to me this year.
On a totally unrelated topic, here's a demo of the Ultimate Facial Mapping software. This is the first facial animation software I've seen that seems to overcome the Uncanny Valley. Some of you will smile and giggle with glee. Others will be freaked out and possibly unnerved by the implications. I just want to use it to make character portraits in computer games.
