Well it appears the venerable Acura may be on its last legs. The starter motor is going, the timing belt needs to be replaced, and with all the dings and dents and a gap on the front bumper, I fear the old machine is nearing the end of it's lifespan. The total repair cost is teetering on the edge of the Kelly Blue Book value, and that will never do.
So I must begin the difficult process of searching for a new vehicle, which forces me to put my money where my mouth is in terms of social responsibility. I'm not convinced that a hybrid would be better than a highly efficient conventional engine, given the added cost of the battery packs (and my suspicions about battery life, and the ugly but inescapable fact that I want more chutzpah in my car.) Clean diesel vehicles won't be available in CA until 2008. Perhaps biodiesel is an option, assuming I stick around places where it is available.
Clearly I need to do more research. Fuckit, why aren't fuel cells here yet?

get one of the "biodiesel ready" VW's. Supposedly you can switch back and forth between biodiesel and regular diesel pretty much at will with them, so it keeps your options open. Good luck.
